The 77th annual Golden Globe Awards show will air live on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. NBC will broadcast the three-hour event while also streaming it live on NBC’s website and app for those with a cable subscription log-in.


Individuals without a cable subscription can take advantage of Hulu with its Hulu Plus Live TV plan, Fubo TV, YouTube, DirectTV Now and Sling TV.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and Dick Clark Productions (DCP) have partnered with Facebook once again for official red carpet coverage. It will livestream on Facebook Watch at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT with hosts Sofia Carson, AJ Gibson, Jeannie Mai and Scott Mantz.

Coverage will also extend to Instagram. HFPA will use its official Instagram awards account (@goldenglobes) to redistribute content in its stories and IGTV. Photographer Alexi Lubomirski will capture winners and presenters, and Instagram Stories will also feature Making the Menu, the Seating Chart and Red Carpet Rollout leading up to the big event. 2020 BRIT Awards 2020 ambassadors Dylan and Paris Brosnan will appear on IGTV along with backstage and red carpet highlights.

E! will also be on the carpet running its pre-show at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT while NBC will begin broadcasting its red carpet coverage at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

Ricky Gervais returns as host for his fifth and apparently final time. He will share the stage with presenters including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lopez, Ana de Armas, Amy Poehler, Rami Malek, Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Jonas, Ansel Elgort, Tiffany Haddish, Kate McKinnon, Will Ferrell, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington, Octavia Spencer, Sofia Vergara, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, Salma Hayek, Cate Blanchett and Daniel Craig. Tom Hanks will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

As for the big nominations, Netflix dominates the list. Its “Marriage Story” nabbed a leading six nods, and it scored four nominations apiece for “The Crown” and “Unbelievable” on the TV side. “The Irishman” (another Netflix release) and Sony’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” trail “Marriage Story” with five nominations each, and HBO’s “Chernobyl” ties “The Crown” and “Unbelievable” with four noms.

This year’s honorees are Tom Hanks, who will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Ellen DeGeneres, who get the second Carol Burnett Award. As for the main competition, the nominations were dominated by Netflix: Marriage Story and The Irishman along with Sony’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood come in with the most nominees on the film side as movie-awards season hits high gear, while the streamer’s The Crown and Unbelievable are tied with HBO’s Chernobyl for most noms on the TV side.

Confirmed presenters on the NBC telecast include Tim Allen, Jennifer Aniston, Ana de Armas, Christian Bale, Antonio Banderas, Jason Bateman, Cate Blanchett, Matt Bomer, Pierce Brosnan, Glenn Close, Daniel Craig, Ted Danson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ansel Elgort, Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Will Ferrell, Lauren Graham, Tiffany Haddish, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Elton John, Nick Jonas, Harvey Keitel, Zoë Kravitz, Rami Malek, Jennifer Lopez, Kate McKinnon, Helen Mirren, Jason Momoa, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt, Amy Poehler, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Margot Robbie, Paul Rudd, Wesley Snipes, Octavia Spencer, Bernie Taupin, Charlize Theron, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, Naomi Watts, Rachel Weisz and Reese Witherspoon.

During the run of the show, winners and presenters backstage will participate in an official Instagram Studio, with exclusive video and photo content to be posted to @GoldenGlobes on Instagram in real time, with behind-the-scenes content shared on Instagram Stories and IGTV. Ahead of the ceremony, BRIT Awards 2020 organizer the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is teaming with show producer dick clark productions on the official Globes red carpet pre-show, HFPA Presents Globes Red Carpet Live, beginning at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT on Facebook Watch ( Sofia Carson, AJ Gibson, Jeannie Mai and Scott Mantz are among the hosts.

Additional coverage comes from E’s annual E! Live From the Red Carpet: BRIT Awards 2020 which also kicks off at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT with Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic hosting. An NBC BRIT Awards 2020 Arrivals special will begin at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT, but might find a tight squeeze in some time zones if the Seattle-Philadelphia NFL wildcard playoff game goes long on the network.
